LoQuill is a private AI dictation app for Apple Silicon Macs. Hold a key, speak, and it types clean, finished text into the app you're using. Speech recognition and writing cleanup both run on your Mac.
Which Macs are supported?
Apple Silicon Macs with an M1 chip or newer, running macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later. Check both in About This Mac before buying. See the compatibility guide for the full check.
Can I use it on an Intel Mac?
No. LoQuill needs an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or newer). Installing a newer macOS version on an Intel Mac does not change that.
Is there a Windows, Linux, iPhone or iPad version?
No. LoQuill is only available for Mac, and a Mac license does not include a mobile or Windows version.
Can dictation work without internet?
Yes, after activation and required model setup are complete, recognition and cleanup run locally. Test the full workflow in a local document with all network connections disconnected.
Does the app ever connect to the internet?
Yes, for a few things: activating your license or trial, downloading models and updates, and checking your license now and then. Sending feedback is optional and also uses the network. Your audio and dictated text are not uploaded.
Why does it request Microphone access?
The app needs microphone access to capture your spoken input. If access was denied, review the LoQuill entry in macOS Privacy & Security settings.
Why does it request Accessibility access?
Accessibility access supports inserting text into another app. Microphone permission alone does not give the app that ability.
How do I start a dictation?
Hold fn, speak, and release to finish. If you set a different shortcut in LoQuill, use that key instead.
What if another app responds to the same key?
Quit the other dictation tool for a short test and retry. Review your shortcut choices and permissions. See the troubleshooting guide before reinstalling anything.
Will it work in every text field?
Test the destination you use. Ordinary editable fields and restricted fields can behave differently. If insertion works in a local document but fails elsewhere, tell support the destination app, version and field involved.
Does AI cleanup mean I can skip proofreading?
No. Check names, numbers, dates, negatives and commitments before sending or publishing the result. Fluent wording is not proof that every detail is right.
How much memory or disk space do I need?
Models occupy disk space and use memory while running. Check the current app's download information and ask support about your exact Mac if you need a confirmed requirement. This FAQ does not invent a RAM minimum or promise the same performance across computers.
Which languages are supported?
English. LoQuill's cleanup model is fine-tuned on English. The speech recognition and language models underneath are multilingual, so other languages may work, but they are not tuned yet. Try yours free for 7 days at https://loquill.app/trial.
Is LoQuill a one-time purchase?
Yes. LoQuill costs $15 once for one Mac, $28 for two and $40 for three, or $12 per seat for teams. There is no subscription, and every purchase has a 14-day money-back guarantee.
What do lifetime updates include?
The website describes future app improvements, features and new LoQuill model releases as included. That is an update entitlement, not a guarantee of a particular future release date or feature.
How many Macs does one key cover?
One key covers one Mac. Solo includes one key, Duo two and Trio three, and Team purchases include one key per seat.
What if I replace my Mac?
Contact leo@etls.studio with your purchase details to reset the active seat for your replacement Mac. Keep the same license key and stay within your purchased seat count.
Where do I get the app and license?
Download the app at https://loquill.app/. After purchase, open the Polar confirmation email and click “Access purchase” to view your license key in the customer portal. Install LoQuill in Applications and paste the key to complete activation.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. You can use every LoQuill feature free for 7 days, and no card is needed. Enter your email at https://loquill.app/trial to get the download. Your 7 days start once setup is complete, there is one trial per Mac, and nothing is charged when it ends.
Does local dictation keep my email or AI prompt local too?
It keeps the recognition and cleanup stages local. The app where the text lands may sync or transmit it according to its own behavior and settings. Read the privacy guide for that boundary.
