LoQuill's dictation pipeline runs on the Mac: capturing speech, recognizing the words and cleaning up the writing. It does not need a remote transcription or cleanup service for that workflow.
That is a specific claim about processing location. It does not mean the app never connects to the internet, that nothing is saved on the computer, or that text cannot leave the Mac after you put it into another app.
What runs locally
The listening, recognition and cleanup steps run on your computer. Once activation and model setup are complete, the published product workflow supports dictating without an internet connection.
The local models are part of the installed workflow. They need to be downloaded and ready before an offline test can prove anything. Turning off Wi-Fi halfway through initial setup is not a test of a finished offline installation.
What needs a network connection
Activation and initial model downloads use the network. Fetching app or model updates does too. LoQuill's current terms describe periodic license validation while online.
These activities are separate from sending speech to a recognition service. They still need to be described accurately. A clear privacy explanation should identify the purpose of each connection rather than saying the whole app is permanently disconnected.
What happens when you send feedback
The app includes an optional feedback or bug-report action. Its source shows that a submitted report can include the message you write, an optional reply email and technical details used to investigate the issue.
Treat a support submission as information you deliberately send. If you paste sensitive text into a report, the fact that the original dictation was processed locally does not prevent that report from being transmitted.
Use a short, non-sensitive example when possible. Ask support what information it needs before sharing a private recording or document.
Local processing does not mean no local history
The app includes local history. Local storage and remote processing are different questions: content can remain on the Mac and still persist there after a take.
Review the current app's history and retention settings if you need to control what stays on the computer. Check the available deletion controls rather than assuming closing the app removes every record. Backups, copied text and documents created in other apps have their own retention behavior.
Where the finished text goes
When LoQuill places text into an email draft, document or AI prompt box, the destination app becomes part of the data path. That app may save locally, synchronize to a cloud account or send the content when you submit it.
For example, writing a prompt with local dictation does not make the receiving online AI service local. Likewise, an email composed without internet is sent to the mail service when you later send it.
Choose the destination according to the content. A local speech-processing tool is one part of a workflow, not a privacy promise for every service used after it.
How to verify your own offline workflow
Finish setup while connected. Dictate a short, non-sensitive sentence into a local document. Disconnect all network connections and repeat the full process, checking that recognition, cleanup and insertion complete.
This is a practical functionality check. It is not a complete network or security audit, and it does not establish a certification or workplace approval. If your organization has specific handling requirements, review the actual product documentation and your organization's approved-tool process.
Questions worth asking before choosing a tool
Where are recognition and cleanup processed? What information is sent for activation or support? What is retained locally? How do deletion controls work? Where will the finished text be saved or sent?
Clear answers to those questions are more useful than a broad privacy slogan. If a detail matters to your use and is not documented, ask us before relying on it.
