LoQuill supports Apple Silicon Macs with an M1 chip or newer, running macOS 15 or later. Intel Macs, Windows and Linux computers, iPhones and iPads are not supported by the current product.

Check the Mac you plan to use before buying. A computer being a Mac is not enough; both the processor and the operating system need to meet the requirements.

How to check the chip and macOS version

Open the Apple menu in the top-left corner of the screen and choose About This Mac. Look for the chip information and the macOS version.

An Apple M1 or a later Apple Silicon chip meets the published processor requirement. If the information identifies an Intel processor, the computer is not compatible with the current LoQuill release. The operating system must also be macOS 15 or later.

This check should be done on the actual computer that will use the license, particularly if you have more than one Mac at home or at work.

What compatibility does and does not tell you

The requirements identify the supported platform. They do not promise the same processing speed on every supported Mac or with every workload.

Local recognition and cleanup use the computer's resources. If performance is a concern, ask about the exact chip, memory configuration and kind of recording you intend to process. Do not compare a short dictated sentence with a long audio-file job as if they were the same task.

Memory and storage

Models need disk space for download and installation, and memory while they run. Those are different requirements. Check the sizes shown by the current app and keep enough free disk space to complete setup and updates.

If you need a confirmed memory minimum or a recommendation for a specific Mac, contact us before purchase. This page does not substitute a guessed number for a supported specification.

Internet and permissions

You need internet for activation and initial model downloads. LoQuill's dictation processing is local once setup is complete. Updates and online license validation are separate from the dictation pipeline.

The app requests Microphone access for speech input and Accessibility access for placing text into another app. Install it in Applications and grant access to that copy during setup.

Using more than one Mac

LoQuill's website describes one license key per Mac. Solo, Duo and Trio provide one, two and three keys respectively. Check the current purchase options if you need several computers, and contact support about moving a license to a replacement Mac.

Not sure about your configuration?

Send your chip, memory, macOS version and intended workflow through the contact page. That is more helpful than asking whether a model name alone will work.
